Meet the Team
Our leadership team is made up of people from different places, backgrounds and denominations, all of whom undertake a thorough application process and training (you can read about our policies on the downloads page). It takes a lot of people to run Explorers camp and there are a whole bunch of us, so here are just a few of the team to introduce themselves to you.
Jonathan Pearson (JP)
Chair
I've been coming to camp since 1998 and been a leader at camp since 2009. In 2018 I took on the role of chair of the Exec which mainly compromises of running the planning meetings and ensuring camp is run in an accountable and safe manner aligned to our vision statement. Outside of camp, I work for the NHS as an analyst and run a scout group in Huddersfield although most of my time is taken up by having two children under two who are absolute delightful and utterly exhausting at the same time. My favorite moments at camp include a twilight cricket game, a talent show song about a missing hairbrush, and the tree by the gate which greets us each year and reminds me of God's presence surrounding the field.
Sandra Broadhead
Secretary
I’m camp secretary a role I have just taken on since September. My role on camp is First aid coordinator and assistant safeguarding leader.
I love spending time with the campers and seeing them grow in their faith.
Camp is like being part of a large family where each person camper or leader is nurtured and cared for. I have been involved with camp since my son started when he was 11. He enjoyed camp so much and had such a fab time. When he became a leader he suggested I apply for leadership too. I have attended camp for the last 6 years what an amazing experience and privilege it has been.
